I had heard about this place for years when I lived in AZ. Finally arrived as a tourist and it did not disappoint. The burger was good. It brought back memories of an old school BBQ. The chicken sandwich was the standout. Incredibly soft and tasteful. Every bite was perfect.

It was truly one of the biggest burgers I've ever had. I had a double Great Big One made like a Tijuana Torpedo. Jalapeno jack cheese and green chili on top. It's all cooked to order over an open flame. Nice casual atmosphere with a side bar for all of the additions a person could want. The fries are nice and crispy. Yeah, I'm going back.

Very good charcoal grilled burgers made right in front of you. Awesome condiment bar to build the burger just how you want it. Parking can be difficult if parking lot is full. Paid parking across the street if needed.

Stopped by The Chuckbox recently. First thing to know: it's cash only. They've got an ATM inside, but tack on 2 for that, on top of any fees from your bank. Be ready to stand in line while they make your burger; it took about 10 minutes when I was there. The seating isn't comfortable at all – no back support and you sit on these strange wooden blocks. The whole place feels pretty dated and worn out, not charmingly rustic, just old. The burger itself was fine, and the toppings bar is a nice touch. A burger and fries ran me about 15. Honestly, factoring in the cash-only aspect and potential ATM fees, you will likely find a better (non-smash) burger experience for a similar price point elsewhere.

This is one of the last standing iconic restaurants in the Phoenix area. Fire grilled burgers that are absolutely delicious. The one draw back is that they only take cash. I’m not sure why but I guess that is what it is. It certainly doesn’t stop this place from being absolutely rammed day and night. Good luck finding a place to sit or park! But in terms of food the burgers are off the chart good! Definitely a place to check out if you’re in the area

So I know this place is a Tempe. I must go to the spot, but I just never have gone. We decided to check it out! This building has to be built in the 50s or 60s it is so cool!! They do hamburgers the right way!! Over mesquite wood and an open flame!!! There is just one line anyone person doing each job. Like one person asking what you want, then one person grilling what you ordered, then one person frying your fries and so on. So if they get any real crowd, it would be super slow, but we didn't really have much of a wait. My wife ordered the big one with cheddar cheese, and i ordered the torpedo Berger. They were both super good!! Mine had grilled green chilies and wow!! Sooooo good!!! They have an awesome toppings area with all the toppings you would want.

I thought this was a dive bar! Turns out it's a burger joint for over 50 years. It's a must try place! I would recommend lunch and don't walk away if you open the door and the line is 20 people deep, they are fast! Food is good and the engery is great! Go check out and iconic place right here in Tempe AZ. Let me know what you think?
